A design which is a good example for “how not to design a home!

April 27, 2010

This home definitely has a very nice curb appeal. Yet from a Feng Shui
point of view it is a good example for “bad” Feng Shui. The front points
toward the street like an arrow – this is what is called Metal Sha –
pointing negative energy towards visitors and home owners walking up to the
home. It almost acts like a knife. Also, as this house has “two front
doors” to choose from, it is hard to decide which one to use, which also
indicates instability. For homeowners living on the other side of the street – this would indicate
an external factor for their Feng Shui, that causes a negative influence on
their home. A good remedy for this is to shield yourself away by
introducing landscaping to your front yard – especially if this home points
straight towards your front entry door.

Know the Feng Shui of your Home – AVOID burglary and vandalism!

April 24, 2010

A Feng Shui Reading of your home can determine if a particular area in your
home shows a high risk for robberies. Depending on the individual
calculation a cure can be introduced to avoid accidents, robberies or even
the risk of fire. Unfortunately there is not an easy answer how to avoid it
without a Feng Shui Calculation. It all depends on the calculation which
one of the five elements ( Water, Wood, Fire, Earth or Metal ) needs to be
introduced.

Can I get a Feng Shui Reading for my Apartment?

April 24, 2010

Absolutely!
We need to know the year of construction of the apartment building. By the
way, it is possible in some cases that the apartment on the 20th floor has
a different year of construction than the 1st floor. Also important to find out is the exact 15 degree compass direction of your
apartment. The sitting and facing of your apartment may differ from the
sitting and facing directions of the whole building. In general the lighter side of your apartment ( like living rooms or
balconies ) is the facing/front direction. Unlike single family homes in
most cases – entry doors to apartments are rarely found in the front/facing
direction of an apartment. Furthermore is it possible to calculate which apartment within the same
building a person should buy or rent, because some apartments will have
better energies than others – even though they share the same basic layout.

Other than that, the Feng Shui calculations for an apartment involve the
same system as they do do for single family dwellings. A Feng Shui
Consultation can tell you which colors to use, inclusive decorating tips on
materials, and also very importantly what to avoid especially when it comes
to choice of color. In any case, an apartment designed and decorated
according to the principles of Feng Shui will help you achieve a happier
living and life situation.

By the way, did you ever realize that almost all Feng Shui Consultants
constantly talk about what remedies a person needs to introduce to his/ her
home in order to help the Feng Shui – though they never ever talk about what
to avoid! And as everything else in life – knowing what to avoid can
sometimes produce bigger gains in life than knowing what to introduce. If you have any question contact us at: MoreInfoAtFengShuiAtWork.com

Today’s Question: I live in a travel trailer (RV). Can you calculate the Feng Shui energies, and what impact the energies have on me and my spouse? Louis from Baton Rouge

April 22, 2010

Dear Louis,

We can not calculate Feng Shui energies of vehicles nor even stationary
trailer homes. It is like calculating the Feng Shui energies of a moving
train – It is impossible! These “moving homes” as well as trailer homes
were manufactured inside a factory. Feng Shui energies are established
before the roof has been added to a structure. This is based on the ever
changing solar system which can not have an impact inside of an enclosed
factory hall. After the roof has been added the Feng Shui of a home and the
impact of the people living in it can be calculated based on the year of
construction as well as the exact compass directions of a building.
Unfortunately, this is impossible to do for an RV also because it is
constantly moving. Wishing you a good and safe life journey!

Feng Shui and The Color Red – Can red painted walls be harmful from a Feng Shui perspective?

April 21, 2010
Yes, red painted walls are not the right choice – EVER!

Feng Shui is the amazing Chinese art and science how to determine the energy patterns of a home (or business).

A complete Feng Shui Consultation will tell every aspect of a home, and what most likely will happen to the people living in it.  Depending on the exact 15 degree LoPan compass reading the homes individual floor plan is divided into eight magnetic Chi fields; four good ones and four not so good ones.

The living room of this Dallas home was not located in a positive magnetic chi field.  Furthermore the room was painted in a red tone ( the favorite color of the owners ) which was not a good color choice,  and it was determined that a high risk of possible accidents in this area exists.  In order to avoid accidents we had to introduce the Metal element – yet still, the room had to be repainted.

The owners chose to ignore these facts since they almost never used this space to sit in……

Until: A brick from the adjacent construction site crashed flying through the living room window destroying some furniture, and almost hurt the owner who was sitting beneath the window .  (The left picture was taken after the accident occurred).  Still not willing to repaint, the owners chose the path of introducing the Water element (or the colors blue and black).  (Please note: Water distinguishes Fire)  Mainly dark blue furniture and blue curtains were introduced, black and blue representing the element of Water,  to off-set the reddish wall color  (as seen in the picture to the right).  As this was not the 100% perfect route / Feng Shui cure to take – so far no more accidents have happened.  The main effort within the living area was to neutralize the Fire element.  An over-sized painting also was placed on the wall to reduce the amount of red surface.  The metal plaque as well as a stainless steal staircase (not seen in picture) represent the needed element of Metal to reduce the risks of accidents. The better choice for a wall color still would have been within the range of white tones.  This  example only represents one of many how Feng Shui can not only determine the positive effects of the energies – yet also the negative ones which have to be reduced first.   If you have any questions please send us an email to: MoreInfo@FengShuiAtWork.com

Does Feng Shui have an impact on you and your family when staying in your summer home?

April 20, 2010
The enclosed pictures are taken at the summer residence of Henry Ford (Ford Motor Company) and Thomas Edison in Naples, Florida.  Those residences were built next to each other.  Though Henry Ford and his family only stayed in Naples for two weeks out of the year.  They were clearly NOT affected by the energies of their winter residence.  Thomas Edison on the other hand stayed at his residence most of the time, and YES him and his wife were affected by the Feng Shui energies.  So if you are staying at a friends house or in a hotel for a few weeks – those energies will not have an impact on you as much as they have an impact in your own home.  If you have any doubt of your own Feng Shui when staying at your vacation residence – feel free to contact us at: moreinfo@fengshuiatwork.com with your questions.

What about Mirrors? Are they good for Feng Shui?

April 19, 2010

We just received this photo from Madrid, Spain. The sender wanted to know
if mirrors are good for Feng Shui. Mirrors are NOT a Feng Shui remedy. As
we only work with the five elements ( Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal )
it can be easily agreed on that mirrors do not belong to any of those
elements. 2,000 years ago when the Feng Shui Master would advise the
Emperor that mirrors were needed – he actually meant Metal. 2,000 years ago
mirrors were made of polished brass which belonged to the Metal element.
Today, mirrors only should be hung were you need them. E.G. Bathrooms, entry
halls or where you want to make a room look bigger.
